Business Phone Systems That Work with Starlink

Need a Starlink business phone solution for a farm, station, remote office or regional workplace? SpaceTek supplies Starlink compatible phone systems that can operate over most suitable internet and data connections, including Starlink, NBN, fibre, fixed wireless and mobile broadband, but not Sky Muster satellite internet. Connection quality, latency and network configuration still need to be assessed. We help rural and remote businesses, offices beyond traditional fixed-phone coverage and multi-site organisations set up practical business calling, without assuming that every site needs the same equipment.

For straightforward calling, Basic Business Voice can suit a single telephone service. Orbit Voice Small Business and Orbit Voice Unlimited support compatible desk phones and telephone adapters (ATAs), but not desktop or mobile softphone apps. Shared Hosted 3CX adds mobile applications and basic PBX call handling, while Dedicated Hosted 3CX offers supported desktop/mobile apps, advanced routing, reporting and flexibility for larger teams. Each service can be assessed for compatibility with the site's internet connection and network setup, excluding Sky Muster.

For businesses comparing 3CX over Starlink or seeking rural business phone systems and phone systems for remote businesses, our Mildura-based technicians can assist with internet/network assessment, router and handset configuration, installation, eligible number porting, multi-site call flows and ongoing support. Staff working remotely can use suitable 3CX applications where the plan, licences, devices and connectivity permit.

Business VoIP, including phone systems over Starlink, depends on adequate internet performance, local networking and continuous power. Power or internet outages can interrupt regular and emergency calls; alternative emergency communication and suitable backup options should be discussed rather than assuming guaranteed availability. SpaceTek provides compatible integration and support, not an officially endorsed Starlink telephone service.

Five business phone options

Service Monthly pricing and GST Best suited to
Basic Business Voice $35/month including GST A straightforward phone service without a hosted 3CX PBX or advanced call routing.
Orbit Voice Small Business $40/month including GST, up to 2 extensions Smaller, lower-usage businesses wanting a managed hosted PBX with desk phones or compatible adapters.
Orbit Voice Unlimited $40/month per extension including GST Businesses wanting unlimited eligible standard Australian local, national and mobile person-to-person calls for ordinary business use.
Shared Hosted 3CX $90/month excluding GST, up to 4 extensions Smaller businesses seeking mobile-app calling, extensions, voicemail and basic business call handling.
Dedicated Hosted 3CX $70/month managed service + $85/month hosting/licence = $155/month excluding GST for 1–5 extensions; $10/month excluding GST per additional extension. Annual licence option $940/year excluding GST. Growing or multi-site businesses needing desktop/mobile apps, advanced queues, routing and reporting.

GST differs by plan: Basic Business Voice and both Orbit Voice plans are priced including GST; Shared and Dedicated 3CX prices exclude GST. Equipment, internet, setup, number charges and usage may be additional subject to the plan and quotation. Orbit Voice: straightforward hosted business calling

Orbit Voice Small Business ($40/month including GST) includes up to two extensions and eligible Australian local, national and mobile calling for ordinary lower-volume small-business use. It is not an unlimited plan and usage may be reviewed under applicable terms. Orbit Voice Unlimited ($40/month per extension including GST) offers unlimited eligible ordinary person-to-person standard Australian calling, rather than a hidden monthly minute allowance; restricted uses such as telemarketing, bulk or automated calling, call centres or resale remain excluded unless specifically agreed.

Both Orbit Voice plans use compatible SIP desk phones or supported telephone adapters. They offer everyday features such as voicemail, ring groups, transfers and basic call routing, with suitable IVR or queues where available. Orbit Voice does not include desktop softphones or mobile calling applications. For application-based calling, choose a suitable 3CX system instead.

Shared Hosted 3CX: the flexible small-business option

Shared Hosted 3CX is a managed shared phone system for up to four extensions at the published indicative price of $90/month excluding GST. It includes mobile 3CX applications, voicemail, core ring groups and transfers, basic routing and eligible standard Australian call costs for ordinary business use under the Fair Usage Policy. Basic IVR and queue capability may be available within plan limits. Desktop application availability must be confirmed for the configuration. This is a simpler environment than a dedicated system, with more limited management and expansion.

Dedicated Hosted 3CX: advanced calling for growing teams

Dedicated Hosted 3CX provides a separate managed 3CX instance, with advanced IVR menus, queues, transfers, business-hours routing, a web management portal and reporting. Compatible desktop and mobile softphones allow authorised staff to make and receive business calls on computers or mobile devices, subject to licensing, configuration and suitable connectivity. It is well suited to reception teams, multiple offices, remote workers and businesses requiring more elaborate call flows.

The managed service is $70/month excluding GST for one to five extensions, plus $10/month excluding GST for each additional extension beyond five. Dedicated hosting/licensing is charged separately at $85/month excluding GST or $940/year excluding GST, providing a combined starting price of $155/month excluding GST when paid monthly. Outbound calls are not automatically included; bundled or usage-billed calling is set out in the specific quotation.

Desk phones, computer apps or mobile apps?

  • Desk phone: a familiar fixed handset for reception or regular office use.
  • Computer softphone: make and answer business calls from a compatible computer on a suitable dedicated 3CX configuration.
  • Mobile app: answer your business extension while travelling or working remotely using a supported 3CX service.
  • A combination: choose which users need physical phones, softphones or both. A business does not automatically need one desk phone for every employee.

Availability differs by service: Orbit Voice does not have apps; Shared 3CX supports mobile apps, while desktop functionality is subject to confirmation; Dedicated 3CX supports both, subject to its licence and configuration.

Reception, call queues and working across locations

We can plan call routing so incoming calls reach reception, the appropriate team, voicemail or an after-hours destination. Dedicated 3CX offers deeper queue, IVR, reporting and multi-site possibilities; simpler requirements may suit Orbit Voice or Shared 3CX. We assess the number of employees, required extensions, handset/app choices and simultaneous calls separately so the quotation matches actual business use.

Keep your existing business numbers

Eligible Australian phone numbers may be ported, subject to carrier processes, customer authorisation and cutover planning. New direct inward dial numbers (DIDs) may also be available. Do not cancel your existing phone services until the migration is confirmed. Porting and additional numbers may incur charges.

Installation, internet and ongoing local support

Our Mildura-based technicians can scope and configure the system, provide suitable hardware, arrange handset or app onboarding, test calling and assist with ongoing adjustments under your plan. VoIP requires reliable internet, suitable network equipment and power. Where appropriate, we can quote on NBN or Starlink network integration, secure handset connectivity, routers, PoE equipment, 4G/5G backup and UPS systems.

Standard 3CX provisioning is referenced at $300 once-off excluding GST, subject to final scope and quote; a 50% deposit may be required before provisioning, licences, equipment orders or porting. Minor routine support is included where specified; substantial changes and complex work may be separately charged. Internet and power outages can affect normal and emergency calling, so alternate emergency access should be planned.

Frequently asked questions

Can our business use a phone system over Starlink or another internet connection?

Yes. Our voice services can be assessed for suitable Starlink, NBN, fibre, fixed wireless or mobile broadband connections, but not Sky Muster. Call quality depends on the internet connection, local network, equipment and power supply. We'll recommend a suitable configuration for your site.

Can we use 3CX over Starlink at several sites?

A suitable 3CX configuration can support teams and locations using Starlink, NBN or other compatible internet connections. Dedicated 3CX offers greater multi-site routing and administration flexibility; actual performance depends on each connection.

Are there business phone systems in Mildura with local installation support?

Yes. SpaceTek supplies business phone systems and business VoIP in Mildura, with assistance for installation, networking, number porting and ongoing configuration across regional and remote locations.

Do Orbit Voice phones work as mobile or desktop apps?

No. Orbit Voice uses compatible desk phones or ATAs. For mobile-app calling, ask about Shared 3CX; Dedicated 3CX can provide mobile and desktop applications subject to licensing and configuration.

Which service should my business choose?

Basic Business Voice suits a simple service; Orbit Voice suits everyday hosted desk-phone calling; Shared 3CX adds mobile-app flexibility for smaller teams; Dedicated 3CX is suited to more advanced workflows, administration and multi-site requirements. We will advise based on your needs.

Can my team answer business calls while away?

Yes, with a supported 3CX mobile application and a suitable internet or mobile connection. Orbit Voice does not provide a mobile calling app.

Does every employee need an extension or handset?

No. Tell us how many people need to make or receive calls, the extensions required and who prefers a desk phone, computer app or mobile app.

Are calls unlimited on every plan?

No. Orbit Voice Unlimited covers eligible standard Australian calls for ordinary person-to-person business use; other plans have different inclusions, volume expectations and potential call charges. Special destinations and external diversions may cost extra.

Will our business number move across?

Eligible numbers can generally be assessed for porting, but timescales and availability depend on the losing carrier and authorisation.

For straightforward home calling rather than a business system, see our Residential Phone Services.
